Manistique Municipal Marina Concept Painting 3
09/19/00
This afternoon, the Manistique DDA met to discuss further ideas concerning improvements to
the municipal marina and adjacent property. A third conceptual painting of the entire project was
introduced. Several other smaller conceptual paintings were the focus of discussion: a widened and
more open area where the boardwalk passes below the US2 bridge, a previously considered stressed
fabric pavilion design and a conventional pavilion design. Manning the gavel, Bill Hentchell
emphasized that all reasonable ideas, consistent with the goal of improving the marina area, were
welcome for consideration. He stated the goal of the considered marina project is to improve the
value of the marina area to most residents and tourists; thus making Manistique more competitive
among lake shore communities.

At the Manistique D.D.A. meeting today, a representative of U.P. Engineers and Architects Inc.
presented early estimates of the costs associated with various facets of the considered
Manistique marina park improvements. He emphasized the fact that without more specifics
concerning quality, quantity, size, labor, etc., the estimates should be considered as very
rough "guesstimates" at current prices, but they would provide the D.D.A. with some comparative
numbers to consider. The guesstimate information follows:
