Feb 19 U4 04:43p p.2 Dale Gribler From: Dale Gribler Sent: Thursday, February 19, 2004 4:18 PM To: Gary L. Maddox (E-mai!) Cc: paul Rogers (E-mail); Peter Munoz (E-mail); Mary Jo Hovey (E-mail) Subject: Allowable Expenses Sheriff Maddox, Pursuant to our conversation this morning I discussed with Paul Rogers, past chair of the Emergency Telephone Committee, the previous conversation you two had regarding the use of wireless funds for official meetings of your 911 authority. Such allowable expenses could be the rental of a meeting room, refreshments and as in your case meals, I would reiterate Mr. Rogers original assessment, these expenditures are for official business meetings only. House bill 4439 requires counties to be Phase I compliant by June 30, 2004 and Phase II compliant by June 30, 2005. If they are not then wireless funds can only be used for Phase I and ll compliance and not operational expenses. According to the compliance certifications our committee has on file from Schoolcraft County you have met the Phase I requirements and are on schedule to finish your Phase II process approximately one year in advance of the dates specified in our current legislation. As chair of the ETSC I would like commend your 911 authority for your diligence to promote this emergency service to your residents and visitors of your area. If you should need any further information please feel free to contact me at your earliest convenience. Dale R.
